    Now, it must be stressed that it is exceedingly important that the material in your shoes are dry before you begin this procedure. Wet or damp shoes will become discolored in the presence of chlorine dioxide. Something that is not known to happen when fabrics or cloth materials are dry.

    Step 1: Preparing and placing the footwear in the tote.

    Select a container just larger than the shoes. Loosen the laces as much as possible so that the tongue can be well opened and out of the way of good airflow to all parts of the shoes. If boots or skates are high-tops and don’t want to stay open, then use an empty length of toilet paper tube or paper towel core within the opening to give the vapors full access. Place inside.

    Step 2: Preparing the vapor dispenser for action.

    Using clean, warm water (preferably not from city water treatment facility), fill the dispenser to the shoulder of the container, Tear or cut open the foil pouch to expose the tablet. Do not touch the tablet. Instead, allow it to slide from the pouch into the opening of the dispenser. Replace the vented cap and close the vents for now.

    Step 3: Placing the vapor dispenser in the tote & securing the lid.

    Select your location in the plastic shoebox for the dispenser where it will be able to freely vent and not spill if jostled. Once ready, open the cap vent (DO NOT SMELL to see if its working) and place the dispenser into the showbox. Secure the lid and snap it tight. For best results, allow this to set overnight (6-8 hours) then remove the lid, the shoes**.
